giving back

I am a firm believer that when God blesses us, we should bless others.  Below are some

ideas that you can try with your youth groups and give back to the community:

Chrismas Day - Singing at Miracle Hill Nursing Home has become an annual affair.  The kids presented the patients with warm throws for those chilly days.  Our youth department visits other nursing home facilities throughout the year, singing for the patients.  They are so pleased to see the children and the kids love it too.

Christmas Card Drive - We collect and recycle used Christmas cards. This isn’t typical recycling. The purpose of collecting these Christmas cards is to repurpose them into ornaments to distribute to nursing homes in the community.  The ornaments are created from the face of the card. The decorative half is trimmed and embellished. The children sign the back of the ornament with heart-felt messages, wishing the recipients a Merry Christmas. Colorful, silky ribbon is attached and the refurbished ornaments are then ready to be given out at the nursing homes.  Each year we are able to give more and more cards.

Crocheted / Knitted Scarfs - Our goal is to is to make 100 scarfs to donate to the homeless shelter.  We all need something warm during the winter months so why not help the homeless.

What can you do to give back?  Let's put it into action and make it happen!
